Wald- und Wiesenkunst
zweintopf
Forest and meadow art. This colloquial phrase, used slightly pejoratively, still reflects the ambivalent relationship between town and country.
More than 10 years ago, the artist duo zweintopf made a conscious decision to leave the city and take over a small farm near Feldbach - including their own fields, forest and meadows, various animals and constant construction sites with a lot of personal commitment. Along with the artists, their art has also spread to their new surroundings, and their ideas no longer only revolve around the public space in the city, but also around their rural environment - completely free of romantic attribution. Their own forest serves as a studio for photographic works, elaborate installations and objects are realised in the workshop and everyday agricultural materials are examined for their aesthetic qualities.
It is still the phenomena of too much in a consumer society flooded with goods from which zweintopf distil their works - somewhere between minimalism and monoculture, between postmodernism and dung heaps.
