Minus-Aquarelle
Wilhelm Scherübl

Wilhelm Scherübl deals with the structures and processes of nature that can be found everywhere - self-organised structures of construction and transformation that are visible both in social networks and in the cellular structure of a tribe.

The series of Minus watercolours arose from Scherübl's fascination with the wintry rocky landscapes in the mountains around Obertauern and the Dachstein. Due to the special conditions and the harsh and rapid change of light and shadow, the artist experimented with watercolour paint whose aqueous solution froze and consequently turned into ice crystals on the paper. These interplays between man/artist and nature are captured moments that are detached from time. Caused by a conscious artistic act, but open in the aesthetic result.
